A prototype that was originally meant for a previous game jam entry. It features the player who has to fish in order to feed this creature. If the creature's hunger bar depletes it will suck in the player and eat them.

WASD - Walk / Fishing Minigame
LMB (Hold) - Cast fishing line
LMB (Press) - Reel in fish / Cancel fishing

In order to feed the creature you have to drag a fish from the right side of the screen to the mouth of the creature.

The fishing mechanic is based on a fishing map, which is used to determine the type of fish you can get, this works similarly to how biomes work in procedural games. This is the first game where I tried making data based resource entries rather than in-engine built ones. So specifically the fish are read from a CSV file which is easier to edit and add fields.

Obviously very barebones, but still kinda interesting. I think there is something to a horror fishing game, I guess Dredge did do well for a reason. I'm not sure if a hunger/timer mechanic works with it too well since fishing games nearly always involve a very heavy luck factor. But there could be something there, maybe not a risk of a timer but some other sort of risk that you have to look out for. I don't really know though to be honest

It's pretty impossible to invent new fishing minigames at this point, but I don't think I've actually seen an on rails rhythm minigame thing mixed in before. Could defs be interesting.
